The St Andrews Trust was established with the initial aim of raising funds to build a school in the remote village of Dedza in Malawi as part of the 'Make Poverty History Campaign'.
42% of Malawi's population are illiterate and 7500 teachers in Malawi die from aids related illnesses each year. Without a continued education, which is easy for children to access - it will be almost impossible to improve their personal circumstances in the long term.
There is also an immediate need to improve Healthcare Education and Provision - African Women have a 1 in 16 chance of dying of pregnancy related illnesses, in Europe that figure is 1 in 1400.
